Early this morning, at approximately 5:50 am, Discovery’s Field and Forest Nature School trailer was stolen. The trailer was parked in the parent parking lot next to our courtyard. The trailer was chained to the fence and the hitch was locked, although it did not stop the thieves. A neighbor reported that she saw two men (one African American and one Caucasian) drive away with the trailer in a small blue hatchback, the vehicle had no license plates.
We have reported the incident to the police. We looked around to see if anything else was taken, it looks like they were after the trailer and its contents. The trailer contained the items and equipment we use to run our Field and Forest and Nature School programs. Items stolen include;
- Trailer
- Fishing tent
- Propane heaters
- M.E.C. rain suits
- Portable fire pit with lid
- Ice fishing sleds
- Large wagon (Princess Auto)
- Portable toilet
- Numerous tarps and mats
- Variety of outdoor tools and equipment
This is disheartening, all of these things were purchased to enhance the quality of these very unique outdoor programs. Our hope is that all of the items will be returned. We are asking parents and member of the community to keep their eyes and ears open (you may see postings on Kijiji or Market Place). If you should see or hear anything, please do not approach the person, contact Discovery Children’s Centre and we will contact the police.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
